Hola! We have been in Isla Mujeres for almost 4 weeks now and while my husband and I love the ocean, our 3 children love the pool. Since our house here does not have a pool we reached out to some local friends to see what Beach Club options were available. They highly recommended Capitan Dulche as their favorite Beach Club. While there are several Beach Clubs on the island, this seems to be our favorite so far as well.
Since we found this place in search of a pool I figured I would start there. The pool is really nice and has palapas you can rent on two sides. Shown in the background here and another side to the left. Straight ahead where the fountain is would be considered the shallow end for children to play.
The pool area to the left of the last picture. Plenty of seating for enjoying food or watching your family swim. This place is very kid friendly. You will see as I go on throughout this post.
We have gone three times and only once was it busy. The place has never been crowded and we really like that. The pool looks out onto the ocean and small beach where you can rent umbrellas with chairs for seating with shade.
If you are wondering how this all works, so were we. We had never been to a beach club on Isla and had heard of a few variations in pricing. This beach club asks that you enjoy paid for food & drinks and the pool, playground and dock are free access. Perfect for large groups as the seating is plentiful. The prices are a little higher since they include most of the amenities for free but worth it in my opinion to have a good time with your family.
There is a massive boat under the huge palapa really giving it that Capitan vibe. The kids enjoy that along with kid-friendly food selections like pizza and burgers.
I enjoyed the Capitan Salad and my girls enjoyed the Caesar Salad (not pictured, it was too dark) with chicken. They actually look forward to going back each week for the salad, pinadas (virgin pina coladas) and the pool.
There are two bars at Capitan Dulche and this one just happens to have swing seating on the beach and on the other side is a swim up bar from the pool. The views are great.
There is a swing set for kids. A nice bonus if you have little ones.
Bathroom access on the beach.
Bathroom access when you first drive into the property.
Capitan Dulche is on the Punta Sur end of the island. The drive into the property is steep. I highly recommend going when you have rented a golf cart as there weren’t a lot of taxi’s driving by. You may have to wait awhile for one.
The view of Capitan Dulche as you are walking up. There is path that leads to the swing set and then to the dock or you can turn left to head to the pool or seating for food.
My teenage son really loves the kayaking. You can rent the kayak for 220 pesos, around $11 USD. They provide the life vest and the paddle as well. He had a lot of fun just paddling around the area. We saw a pelican having fun in the water and a few fish were darting after food. You have access to the dock where you can see the Cancun skyline and lots of boats in the water. Don’t worry there weren’t any boats near the kayaking area.
There are a ton of these metal statues on the Capitan Dulche property. Most are in the water. I didn’t want to give away all the neat secrets so I am not posting that picture for anyone who really wants to see the art for themselves.

Ryan, our children and I really enjoy Capitan Dulche. The staff is attentive and great, not every beach club on the island has enough staff. This one does. The amenities are great for families with children of all ages. Lot’s of babies were enjoying their time and small children loved the swings and the playground. Walking out onto the dock is really fun too. The pool is refreshing and relaxing. You can swim up to the bar and order a cocktail and float around the pool. Great way to spend the day with your family. Let us know if you have been or if you plan on adding it to your itinerary next visit.
